I cannot believe summer is almost over. Time flies by so fast, especially when there are so many memories to be made. Between the many events we had this summer at Fujiyoshida JES, I ended up going on a small getaway of my own.
こんにちは、みなさん！JES富士吉田校舎のNinaです！
夏がもうすぐ終わってしまうなんて、信じられません。楽しい思い出をたくさん作っていると、時間が過ぎるのは本当にあっという間ですね。富士吉田JESでこの夏に行われたたくさんのイベントの合間に、私自身もちょっとした旅行に出かけてきました。
If you’re wondering if it was to Izu again, you are correct (haha). I know that I’ve been there so often now that there really shouldn’t be something to write about, but honestly, every time we go, it’s a new experience – it’s never exactly the same. Add to that the nostalgic feelings I get when I go there, thanks to how similar it is to Australia, that I really can’t stay away!
「また伊豆かな？」と思った方、その通りです（笑）。もう何度も伊豆に行っているので、そろそろブログに書くこともなくなってきたのでは？と思われるかもしれません。でも、正直なところ、行くたびに新しい発見があり、毎回まったく違う体験ができるんです。さらに、オーストラリアに少し似た雰囲気があるので、訪れるたびにどこか懐かしい気持ちにもなります。だから、なかなか離れられません！
Of course, Izu still has plenty for us to see. Last time it was the Atagawa Tropical and Alligator Garden. This time – we went to Izu Animal Kingdom, among other things! Izu Animal Kingdom was truly amazing. Everything I researched about it and expected about it was blown away by the reality of the experience!
もちろん、伊豆にはまだまだ見ていない場所がたくさんあります。前回は熱川バナナワニ園でしたが、今回はそのほかの場所と合わせて、伊豆アニマルキングダムへ行ってきました！伊豆アニマルキングダムは本当に素晴らしかったです。事前に調べて想像していたものを、実際の体験の方がはるかに上回っていました！
The Walking Safari area was truly massive. I had read about it on their website, but I still didn’t expect how big it was and how the animals all simply existed side-by-side. It was truly like walking into a real savannah. The proximity of the Walking Safari to the actual animals was very surprising too. Not only could you see all these animals, but it was also even possible to feed them! In particular, the giraffes looked incredibly happy to have people feeding them!
特に「ウォーキングサファリ」のエリアは本当に広大でした。公式サイトで紹介されているのは見ていましたが、それでも実際の広さには驚きました。そして、たくさんの動物たちがまるで自然の中で暮らしているかのように、同じ空間で過ごしているんです。本物のサバンナに入り込んだような気分でした。動物たちとの距離がとても近かったことにも驚きました。たくさんの動物を間近で見られるだけでなく、なんと餌をあげることもできました！特にキリンたちは、人から餌をもらえてとても嬉しそうでした！
A big highlight for me was also the Big Cats exhibit. I’m definitely a cat person, and that includes big wild cats for me. We got really lucky, as we came very early in the morning and the animals weren’t tired yet, so we got to see the cheetah prowling her enclosure, the lions relaxing, and the white tigers wandering around the enclosure and playing in the water. On a logical level, I understand it’s a dangerous animal, but seeing the tigers play in the water, I couldn’t help but coo over how cute they were!
私にとって大きな見どころの一つだったのが、大型ネコ科動物の展示です。私は大の猫好きで、それにはもちろん野生の大型ネコ科動物も含まれます。今回は朝早くに訪れたので、動物たちもまだ元気で、とてもラッキーでした。チーターが展示スペースを歩き回る姿や、ライオンがのんびり過ごす様子、そしてホワイトタイガーが歩き回ったり、水の中で遊んだりする姿を見ることができました。もちろん頭では危険な動物だと分かっていますが、楽しそうに水遊びをするトラを見ていると、「なんてかわいいんだろう！」と思わず声を上げたくなってしまいました！
The most surprising part of the zoo was truly the tactile area. Usually, I don’t really go into the tactile areas of zoos because they are mostly intended for small children and the animals they have there are typically domesticated breeds that I’ve interacted with at home, but I was honestly stunned by the tactile area here. Not only were none of the animals considered domestic/farm animals, but they were also so much more docile than those typically are! The capybaras were amazingly wonderful, and the lemurs were so playful and active – they climbed all over us! It truly was a unique experience like no other.
そして、動物園の中で特に驚いたのが、ふれあいエリアです。普段、動物園のふれあいコーナーにはあまり行きません。小さな子ども向けであることが多く、そこで触れ合える動物も、家で触れたことのあるような身近な動物が中心だからです。でも、ここのふれあいエリアには本当に驚かされました！家畜や一般的なペットとして飼われている動物はほとんどおらず、それなのにどの動物もとてもおとなしかったんです！カピバラは本当にかわいらしく、キツネザルはとても活発で、私たちの体に登ってくるほど元気いっぱいでした！他ではなかなかできない、とてもユニークな体験でした。
All-in-all, the experience was truly like no other I’ve had and I’m still astonished at how amazing of a time it was. To end our Izu trip, we decided to go on the tourist boat, just to see the great blue depths of the ocean and the horizon.
今回の旅は、最初から最後まで本当に特別な体験の連続でした。今でも、あれほど素晴らしい時間を過ごせたことに驚いています。伊豆旅行の最後には、観光船にも乗ることにしました。広く青い海と、その先に広がる水平線を眺めながら、旅を締めくくりました。
To be honest, I don’t think this is anywhere near the last time I’ll go to Izu, but I’m sure that I will still find many new and unique ways to enjoy every trip there.

正直なところ、これが伊豆への最後の旅行になるとはまったく思っていません（笑）。これからも訪れるたびに、新しくてユニークな伊豆の楽しみ方を見つけていくんだろうなと思います。
